Week of September 26 - 30

Wed., Sept. 28 - Governor Brandstad visits Keystone Elementary
Thurs., Sept. 29 - Bloomsbury Farm Field Trip - Students should dress for an afternoon at the 
                           farm, and will need a sack lunch and drink.

Word Work - "I know and apply grade level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words."
We have been working with -ing words in class this week. Last week's words focused on short vowels, this week's words focus on long vowels. Students bring their pretest papers (salmon color) home on Mondays to use as a study sheet at home for the week in preparation for Friday's test.
Week 3: reading, escaping, arriving, dreaming, speaking, writing, joining, smiling

Reading - I can read grade level text accurately (95%) and fluently (Fall 90 wpm, Spring 116 wpm, Winter 131 wpm).
I can determine the main idea of a text.
I can recount key details of a text.
I can explain how details of a text support the main idea using text evidence.


Writing - "I can stay focused and organized."

Science - " I can use evidence to support the explanation that traits can be influenced by the environment."

Math - "I can use place value to round numbers to the nearest 10 and 100."
