This week in 3rd Grade:
Math-- We worked on balancing equations and reviewed rounding numbers to the nearest 10's and 100's. Daily basic fact practice continues in Rocket Math.
Reading-- We have been working on visualization of story events to strengthen comprehension.
Word Work--- Our skill this week is adding the suffix "ing" to words correctly. Please be sure to practice the word list (sent home Tuesday) to help prepare for Monday's test, Ask your child to talk about the rules of adding "-ing" (e-drop, double, no change) to words.
Writing-- Student have been working on personal narrative stories about our trip to Bloomsbury Farm. They also created fall Haiku poems containing one line with five syllables, a second line with seven syllables, and a third line with five syllables.
The Benton County Naturalists, Karen and Aaron, came to visit our rooms this week and talked to the students about bones. Ask your child which animal bones they discovered.
Patrick from the Keystone Fire Dept. presented a fire safety presentation to the students. He invited all students to draw a picture of their fire safety exit plan at home. Students need to turn these in at school by Nov. 9th. The Fire Dept. will choose one winner from each class to receive an award.
